Welcome to my studio! The path leads under the palmetto trees in the side garden to the studio entrance in the back of the house. These photos were taken during the Open Studio tour of the Columbia Festival of the Arts in May 2007.

A cobalt blue wall defines the garden and guides you toward the studio.

As you enter the studio, you see my work table in the middle of the room and a comfortable chair by a bookshelf in the corner. There is a ground level view of the hydrangeas and forsythia in the west side garden from the small window.

Visitors are asked to sign the guest book and take a map to other open studios.

My work table is made from a 36" door supported by kitchen cabinets so I can work standing up. Underneath is flat storage for paper and canvases.

To the right from the entrance, the hallway has track lights and ledges for holding work in progress and space for small framed pieces.

I chose warm colors of sand and terra cotta accented with cobalt and turquoise becasue they remind me of travels to the southwest.

A closet between the hallway and garage holds art supplies.

In a renovation project last year, we added an insulated garage door with windows so I can work in comfort. For the tour, this area was used for displaying work for sale.

Visitors are welcomed by my husband on the right and a neighbor who helped with parking.

A display on this work table shows photos of me painting on location in France, Greece, New Mexico, and South Carolina along with some of the paintings finished later in the studio.

This converted garage provides space for painting large projects such as murals and the triptych that you see in progress here.

Thanks for coming for the tour. As we say here in the south, “y'all come back!”
